NATAL CHART READING (60 - 90 Min)

The first reading I do with a client is always a natal chart reading, a profile of the stars on the day of your birth and what they indicate about you and the course of your life.

Imagine that each zodiac sign is a land with a natural environment, resources, customs and cultural tendencies, and each of the parts of you that make up your larger self lives in one of these twelve lands. In a natal reading we’ll explore each of the places where part of your identity resides and discover how you express those energies, as well as who else in your life (partners, parents, friends, bosses) affect you and bring certain sides of you forward. I’ll help guide you in reading the map of your personal world; my goal isn’t to shock you with how much I can discover without knowing you, or to tell you who you are, but to collaboratively learn with you how this metaphysical map correlates with your lived experience. Through this process we can identify and appreciate the areas of life and ways of being that bring you satisfaction and pleasure, as well as more deeply understand the energies and archetypes that you’re resistant to or find oppressive so that you’ll have the opportunity to approach them with more freedom and agency. By looking at particular “houses” that indicate life topics (like career, relationships, health & illness, creativity & pleasure) we can learn very specific information that’s invaluable for both practical and spiritual purposes.

Towards the end of our reading we’ll touch briefly on transits, a method of observing the movement of the planets in order to accurately time future (and past) events to make the most of opportunities and prepare for challenges.

The following readings are for returning clients (or those with a lot of previous experience in astrology):

CHECK-INS (45 min, cost: 3 hours of your wages)

Returning clients get the benefit of quick check-ins that are tailored to your specific needs. Some examples:

-As a follow-up to the natal reading we can continue discussing a particular planet, aspect, or topic in your chart that needed further analysis. We’ll never touch on every factor in your chart in one natal reading! If you’d just like to know more about one specific area in particular this quick check in is great

-In new moon readings we can identify important dates in the coming month and prepare to make the most of them. If you have something important coming up in your life, if you're trying to start something new, or if you just need some clarity or direction, this reading is for you. Many people like to get a reading each new moon as a way to go into the new lunar month with intention and direction.

SOLAR RETURN READINGS:
THE YEAR AHEAD (60 min)

The birthday reading! Your solar return is the moment when the sun returns to the exact place in the zodiac it was at the moment of your birth. This predictive technique draws a chart for that moment and takes it as the “seed” of the coming year, using it to forecast key upcoming events and experiences. In this reading you’ll discover your “timelord” of the year (a special planet that guides the course of events for you that year), find out what topics or areas of life will draw your focus and be most eventful, and get a roadmap of when those events and opportunities will arise so you can make the most of them. Who doesn’t want to see the trailer for their year before it begins!

SATURN RETURN SURVIVAL GUIDE (60 min)

The planetary cycle that has a reputation for inducing dread in everyone approaching their late twenties, the Saturn return reading can give you comfort and confidence going into a three year period of complete restructuring. Saturn is the planet of restriction, structure, depression, age, and time. The slowest visible planet, Saturn’s “return” to its natal position triggers a coming-of-age rite of passage in which the structures we’ve built to support ourselves are shaken, broken down, rebuilt, and fortified. This reading gives you a preview of the entire course of your return and acts as a personalized survival guide with practicable suggestions for directing Saturnian energy.

Synastry: Relationship Readings (60-90 min)

Synastry, or relationship astrology, is the technique of comparing two charts to each other to reveal the unique contributions each person can make to the other’s life and to identify struggles and blind spots that a relationship between them might bring out. None of us are truly isolated individuals; certain sides of ourselves only come out with certain people, and we can (hopefully!) learn to surround ourselves with others who enrich and encourage those parts of ourselves we’re trying to cultivate. Synastry isn’t just used for romance; it is an invaluable way to better understand your relationship with friends, family, roommates, collaborators, or even institutions (like a business you're considering working with, or a space in which you’re invited to present artwork). These readings can be done with both parties, or only one (with consent from the other party to view their chart). Doing readings with both people is also a great way to connect and open conversations that might never otherwise have come up. It can be incredibly helpful for breaking out of any preconceived notions we have about the other person and truly seeing them for who they are, while being realistic about our own tendencies, patterns, and space for growth. We will also use the “composite chart” which combines both of your charts into one that represents the relationship itself: what are you and this person like as a single unit? Synastry readings are a pleasure to do, and also a practical tool to approach all our relationships conscientiously.

TIME TRAVELING: TRANSIT CYCLES
(60 min & prior email exchange)

After we’ve done a natal chart reading, it’s possible to dig much more deeply into your life story and discover uncanny patterns you may not otherwise have recognized. These readings are extremely useful for putting current challenging events into a much broader context and learning from your past experiences what actions & attitudes are most beneficial for you now. Choosing one or two planets that represent a theme or series of events you’re dealing with, I’ll go back through your life and identify other moments when those same influences were active. Then, with my knowledge of astrology and your understanding of your own life, we can diagnose what has worked in the past and what hasn’t, what sorts of events tended to arise when those planets were active for you, and strategize about how to break habit patterns that are holding you back in this area. Because we’re so conditioned to think of time in a linear way, it can be really astounding to discover that two or three seemingly unconnected occurrences are actually part of an ever-evolving cycle of events in your life. This reading includes email exchanges in advance of the reading, since you & I will be playing metaphysical detective.

ELECTIONAL ASTROLOGY
Choosing the perfect date & time

Electional astrology is the art of choosing the perfect date and time for any endeavor in order to bring about the most desirable experience possible. Just as a natal chart freezes a moment in time and uses it as a blueprint for the course of the life, an electional chart can be read to understand the entirety of any event that begins in that moment. Elections can be done for any activity, but some popular ones are weddings & parties, trips & journeys, medical procedures, building or creating something, or submitting applications (for jobs, school, grants, etc). We’ll have a quick consultation to discuss your specific needs, then I’ll dive into the charts and hunt for the ideal planetary alignments that fit your situation. We’ll have a final consultation for me to present you with a couple of options and explain in detail how each scenario is likely to play out before you make your final choice of a date & time. Once you start using elections you’ll wish you’d had this tool your entire life!

CREATIVE COSMOLOGY: ASTRO STUDIO VISIT
(60 - 90 Min)

Combining my practice as an astrologer with my experience as an artist & curator, the Creative Cosmology reading is a combination of natal astrology with dialogue about your current artistic projects or past body of work. The chart shows how you express your creative impulses, aesthetics, and ideas, identifying key archetypes that are operational in your work, some of which you may be consciously employing and others that are operating below the surface. You’ll present work samples (in any medium) for me to view beforehand and I’ll analyze them through an astrological lens to notice patterns and themes that emerge. This dialectic between the chart and the work can be incredibly clarifying and provide concrete direction for continuing with the project or contextualizing it for exhibition. Having an external document like the natal chart can really help you to think differently about your work as well as your own motivations for creating it; it can also be refreshing to have a totally different evaluative approach outside the (often soul crushing) art criticism we’re used to. In addition to astrological insight, my knowledge of contemporary art discourse and practices will help you understand, speak about, and present your work for audiences and curators. Alternately or additionally, we can focus on the spiritual or metaphysical purpose of your work rather than the professionalized approach (whatever suits your needs!). At the end of the studio visit, I’ll use astrological timing techniques to identify the best moments for making new work, editing and reevaluating works in progress, submitting grants and applications, and making space for rest, pleasure, & undirected exploration that’s so vital to any creative practice.

Tutoring

I’m currently offering individual tutoring in astrology. Whether you’re just curious about astrology or already infatuated, individual instruction is a fun and fast way to learn how to read charts yourself. Since instruction is personal, we can skip whatever you already know well and tailor the lessons to topics and techniques that most intrigue you. If you’ve got signs and planets down, but can’t wrap your head around the houses, you can get a thorough understanding in only a couple of sessions. If you’re sick of being lost when all your friends start blabbing about astrology or when you see astro memes go by on Instagram, we can start from scratch. If you’re already comfortable reading natal charts, I can teach you techniques like transits, progressions, and profections so you can begin to do predictive astrology. If you’re a modern astrologer and want to master traditional techniques like evaluating planetary & house condition, or using ancient timelord procedures, I would love to teach you the intricacies of this approach. (I’m certified in Hellenistic Astrology by Demetra George, one of the foremost scholars on the topic).

If you’re more of an independent learner, we can also do one or two sessions to come up with a self-directed curriculum with a syllabus of texts and resources, so you can proceed at your own pace.

I’m also able to do group sessions (for a reduced rate) if you have a few friends who want to learn the same material.
